What is the PXL Prioritisation Framework?
PXL Prioritisation Framework is a systematic approach to determining priorities in the development of software, products or projects. It helps teams make informed decisions about which features, tasks or improvements to implement first.
Key components of the PXL Framework:
- P - Potential (Potential) - What is the potential value and impact
- X - eXecution (Execution) - How easy/difficult is it to execute
- L - Learning (Learning) - What can we learn from the implementation
Evaluation system:
| Component | Evaluation 1 (Low) | Evaluation 2 (Medium) | Evaluation 3 (High) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Potential | Minimum impact | Moderate impact | High impact |
| eXecution | High complexity | Moderate complexity | Low complexity |
| Learning | Minimum value of knowledge | Moderate value of knowledge | High value of knowledge |
Application process:
- Identification of all tasks/functions for evaluation
- Evaluation of each element by the three components (P, X, L)
- Calculation of the total result: P + X + L
- Sorting the elements by the total result
- Focusing on the elements with the highest results
Advantages:
- Objective and transparent process for making decisions
- Balancing between value, effort and learning
- Reducing subjectivity and bias
- Improving resource utilization
- Accelerating the delivery of value
Typical uses:
- Product backlog prioritization
- Selection of functions for next sprints
- Resource planning in project teams
- Strategic planning of the product journey
