What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate Marketing is a performance channel where external partners promote your products/services against a commission according to predefined rules. The commission is paid only for a validated result—sale, qualified lead or installation.

Key advantages

  • Predictable costs (pay-per-result).
  • Access to new audiences and channels.
  • Scalability through networks and affiliate ecosystems.
  • Strong trust signals through third-party content.

When is it suitable?

  • We have a clearly measurable conversion (eCommerce, SaaS, lead generation).
  • The margin allows for commission and retention/cancellation.
  • Presence of creatives, product feeds and target pages.
  • Readiness for legal and brand policies towards partners.

Types of affiliate programs

In-house vs. via network

In-house platform (e.g. WordPress plugins/private systems) or via affiliate networks (Impact, Awin, CJ, Rakuten, PartnerStack and others).

Public vs. private

Public with open application or private with carefully selected partners.

Single-level vs. multi-level

Direct commission or additional for recommended sub-affiliates (referral levels).

By channel

Content/SEO, coupon and cashback sites, price-comparison, e-mail, influencers/creators, B2B affiliate partners, sub-affiliate networks.

By business model

B2C (eCommerce, applications) and B2B (SaaS, services) with specific rules for lead qualification and sales cycle.

With hybrid attribution

Combination with first-party data, UTM/GA4 and server events (CAPI, S2S) for fairer distribution of the value.

Payment models and commissions

Main models

  • CPS (Cost-per-Sale) – fixed amount or % of the order value.
  • RevShare/Recurring – recurring commission for subscription (e.g. % for 6–12 months).
  • CPL (Cost-per-Lead) – validated lead according to defined criteria (MQL/SQL).
  • CPA/CPI – for a specific action/application installation.
  • Hybrid – combination of CPS + CPL or fixed bounty + % of sale.

Rules and settings

  • Cookie window: typically 30–90 days; possible first-touch/last-click.
  • Retention & cancellation: verification before payment (e.g. 14–45 days).
  • Tying and bonuses: by volume, AOV, new customers, seasonal incentives.
  • Payment frequency:NET15/NET30/weekly; methods: bank transfer, PayPal, Wise.
  • SKU/category commissions: different commissions by margin/collection.
